Twister Standard (Official) Rules - for two, three, four or more players, by Hasbro Canada Inc (now owned by Milton Bradley, if I understand correctly)

       A new stocking-foot game that everybody will flip over. Twister can be played indoors or outdoors by males or females or mixed gendered groups of all ages. The perfect fun starter for every party.

Object of the game: To be able to outmaneuver your opponent in placing hands and feet on colored circles as directed by the spinner.

To set up the game: 1. Indoors: Open and spread the vinyl game sheet on floor or rug with colored side up. 2. Place spinner on table, floor, or level surface. 3. Outdoors: Place shoes or objects on corners to hold the sheet down.

Play for two players: 1. Players remove shoes and stand facing each other on opposite ends of the sheet near the word "Twister". 2. Each player places one foot on a Yellow circle and the other foot on a Blue circle that are nearest their "Twister" end. 3. A third person called the "Referee" spins and reads aloud both the limb and color the arrow points to. The outside section of the Spinner points to one of four limbs - right hand, left hand, right foot, or left foot. Inside each of these sections are four spaces, one of each color found on the vinyl sheet. The referee must read the information found on both sections. Referee could say for example, "Right hand, red." 4. Players must move to obey the direction of the referee. In the example above, they must both place their right hand on any vacant red circle. 5. One limb from one player only can occupy any one circle at one time. If both players reach for the same circles, the referee decides which player was there first and therefore awards the circle to that player. 6. Once limbs are placed on circles, including both feet at the start, they cannot be moved or lifted without the direction of the referee by each spin. (Thus, if the referee takes a short break, players must remain in their position until the referee returns to resume the game play!) However, during an opposite players movement, one limb may be lifted to allow another limb to pass by, but must be immediately replaced to the circle from which it came. The referee must be notified before making this move. 7. If three limbs from each player are on the same colored circle, they occupy all available circles of that color and the referee must spin until a different color can be called. 8. Except for Rule 7, the player must move the limb called to another circle even though it may be on the same color as called. 9. Whenever one player falls or lets an elbow or knee touch the vinyl sheet, the game is ended and the other player is the winner. Note: If a player feels that a new position is impossible or it would cause him or her to fall, he or she may concede the game.

Play for three players: 1. Two players face each other from opposite ends of the sheet and the third player faces the center from two middle red circles along the side. 2. Players move into positions directed by the spin of the referee as in the two-player game. 3. The first player to fall or have an elbow or knee touch the vinyl sheet, drops out and the remaining two players continue until one player remains as the winner.

Play for four players: 1. Players form teams of two players each. 2. Players on the same team line up side by side occupying the four circles at the "Twister" end of the sheet. The opposing team faces them in the same manner at the other end. 3. The referee calls the spin as in the two player game, but in team play all four players must take each position called. 4. Play continues as in the two player game except partners can each occupy the same circle with one limb not necessarily the same limb. 5. When one player from either team falls or touches an elbow or knee to the surface, the game is over and the other team becomes the winner.

Suggested games for parties or groups: Round Robin Game: Players form two-partner teams and play a round robin tournament. Each team in turn, plays every other team and score is kept of team wins and losses. The team with the most wins is the winner. Elimination Game: Players form two-partner teams and play an elimination game. After two teams have played one game, the winning team comes back to play other winning teams. The losing teams drop out. Winning teams continue to play winning teams until there is only one team left, which is declared the winner. If desired and agreed upon prior to beginning the game, at the request of a winning team before beginning the next game, a substitution of players can be made between a "tired out" team member and a player that was part of a losing team. If this move is taken by a winning team, the team must notify the referee of the intended substitution and call the name of the player they have chosen. The player whose name is called must play the game as now a member of this team, and reversal of this decision is not allowed during the playing of this game.

Optional two player game without a spinner - with or without a referee: 1. This game is played with the same rules as in the regular game for two players, except the spinner is not used. 2. Either the referee calls out the limb and color as he or she desires or, if played without a referee, one player in the game calls the name of the limb to be moved and the other player calls the color of the circle it must be moved onto. 3. Players alternate turns calling the limb first. Note: When it is the player's turn to call a limb, he or she should call the limb he or she would like to move most. The opposing player will try to name a color that combined with the called limb will give his or her opponent a difficult position to achieve. 4. Winner is declared as in the regular two-player game.

Strategy for winning at Twister: Good strategy is to advance toward an opponent in an attempt to keep him or her in his or her end of the vinyl sheet. This will give him or her a smaller area of circles on which to gain each position, without going under or over the advancing player. Or, will force him or her to have to stretch out over or under an opponent in order to achieve the required action. In either case, approaching with this strategy may lead to limited additional moves on your opponents part before he or she loses balance.

Some additional possible rules to make the game more challenging than it already is to play: If you want to make the game stretch out, time-wise, then add more players and-or call out moves for each individual player to engage in, doing this in turn between players. Or, simply take your time, have some chatting and audience participation from the sides or, if the referee so desires to "tire out" the players a little for some amusement for all, have the referee take his or her time calling out the next move.

Special Adult-Level Rules, by Joseph Tsefanyahu

       Everyone might want to take a shower first before engaging in this version of twister, either right before the games begin or just before coming to whose ever house you've chosen to socialize at. The special rules needed to play this more adults-only version of this game are as follows. All rules in the standard game continue to apply. But, with this version, there are a few more that also apply, with certain of these rules obligatory upon everyone who joins into a game. Besides these certain rules, the rest are obligatory upon you only if you declare them to be before engaging in playing the game. But, keep in mind that inadvertently you may me subject to accidental and inadvertent fulfillment of some of these rules, even if you do not declare yourself held to them before starting game play. It's just because of the nature of the close-ness of individuals when playing this game that you must accept the possibility of more happening than what you intended, so long as it is not obviously intended by another or deliberate. Make sense? Okay, here are these rules to this adults-only version of Twister, the Naked Twister version of this game:

Rule 1: If not all members are comfortable enough to play this adult-version of this game fully naked, you are permitted to play with just your underwear/lingerie on. But, all members and, especially, those who are willing to get fully naked, must be willing to get just as personably in contact with others as you would if you were playing this game with all your clothes on. With this rule their are no exceptions, and playing this version of Naked Twister signifies your consent to this rule and rule numbers 5 and 6.

Rule 2: If you agree to it before playing this adult-version of Twister, you must be fully and completely naked to play this version of this game. This is the intent of this special version of the game, and is highly encouraged of all players when playing this game. Doing so adds memorable and unique excitement to this game, which is the whole intent for playing it with friends and acquaintances.

Rule 3: You are permitted to grab hold of any area of another player's body for support with any free area of your body, or lean against him or her for support as needed to remain playing in the game. And, you are encouraged to near the point of being required to not be shy about it at all. All contact is done for game play advantage and is done all in fun!

Rule 4: If you find your face making contact with any area of another player's body, you must lick that area until the game playing requires this other player to move into a different location. Likewise, if you are in a position to press a portion of your body against the face of another player, then by all means attempt to do it, so that you may reap the benefits of such play and so that they must deal with the fun of having to pleasure you accordingly. Don't worry nervous players, it could be just a portion of a leg that you find in your face. Then, it may just as well be something else, depending on the position and desires of each of the game players around you.

       In this modern age, as much as many of us hate these little legal document issues, it is an unfortunate necessity to include Rule 5 and Rule 6 below. This is for the innocent protection and safety of all players who choose to engage in the playing of this adults-only version of Twister, entitled Naked Twister. This game is meant to be fun, and we don't need bad apples of personality to be tarnishing the memory of it after the fact and at a later time. So, here it is, and keep in mind that your game creator is automatically obligated to Special Rule number 1 below as well, because he is this committed to the pleasure and fun of this adults-only version of Twister.

Rule 5: Remember, by engaging in this adults-only version of this game, titled Naked Twister, you are agreeing to indemnify and hold all players participating in this game harmless from lawsuits and false allegations of wrong doing, seeing how we as players are all adults and know how to respect each others limitations. And, as adults know that if we are choosing to play this game, then we are willing to accept the intended positive results of playing this adults-only version of the game Twister. In other words: respect each other, by not doing to another what is obviously a "no" on his or her part; as a player, make your "yes" to playing this game clear or don't play it; and, most importantly, enjoy fully the fun of engaging in this game play with your friends and acquaintances, without regrets for having done it after the fact. This, too, is the other mandatory rule upon all players who engaged in this version of Naked Twister, without exception.

Rule 6: To play this game, if you have the desire to, requires a signature on your part that you consent to the mandatory rules upon all players of this game. This should not be an issue at all if you are serious about having some very discreet, potentially intimate (if you should so choose), hilarious and exciting fun with your friends and acquaintances while getting together and deciding to play this game. This signature form is below - please print and sign your full name so we can have some fun. Afterwards, the host whose is responsible for the location where you are playing this game will maintain possession of this signing sheet, with date of game play upon it, for an indefinite period of time to ensure that no "bad apples of personality" attempt to make misuse of this memorable and lively experience of social time together. If you wish to play, please sign on one of the lines directly below the Special Rule 1.

       There is one final rule to this adults-only version that you may at any time apply and take advantage of while playing this game with your host involved in it, as well. This special rule is as follows, because your host is deserving of it and you deserve the opportunity to explore and utilize it:

Special Rule 1: Joseph Tsefanyahu is automatically and always required to be observant and committed to all the rules of Naked Twister, both the Standard Rules and all the Special Adult-Level Rules. This is a requirement upon him, because he is the promoter of this version of the game. And, by default of this, must abide by every rule attached to the playing of this game, whether he wants to be obligated or not at any given time. And, if you play this game in his presence, then he is equally required to sign the sheet below and participate in the game play, and this is automatically mandatory upon him. Being obligated to this Special Rule 1 is just a necessary by-product to being the example, the demonstrator, and the teacher of this game. Joseph Tsefanyahu must walk the talk and live by what he teaches, period. No exceptions at any time. Always keep this in mind when playing the game, and make him ever constantly aware that you remember the rules and obligations upon him. He must keep true to them and be demonstrably subservient and obedient to them. And, finally, remember that you also have the three additional sacred promises made in youth to apply to the game, as well, that are always binding upon him. Just keep him in good health and standing while being merciless in fun towards him. This adults-only version of the game Twister is your opportunity to explore the possibilities you've never explored! Or, fulfill yet again ones that you liked. How far do you want to go with it, and how much memorable fun do you want to have in doing it? The choice is now yours with your verbal declaration to those around you and with your signature below.

Some Additional Ideas To Consider

       You could consider adding whatever other ideas that are on your mind to the rules of this game or to the nature of it. So, be explorative and try new ideas and things as a group. I definitely encourage this as a way to have even more fun and to get to know each other even better. An idea I would wonder on how it would affect the game, outside of making it invitingly messy to play, is playing this game oiled down from head to toe - like you would be in a nice hearty and healthy game of nude oil wrestling. Which would be a fun party game in and of itself, by the way. But, I most want to hear your ideas on how to make this game more fun, more adventurous, and maybe even more naughty or demanding (I write this only because it arouses me the idea of being in humiliatingly exposed and vulnerable positions in front of all my friends and our acquaintances - just my personal thang). It's all up to your imagination, and I want to personally experience in play your imagination mixed into the rules already laid out here. Just write it down on the sheet for us to sign our names to, and I'll experience it with you. I promise with a daring smile!

A Note About Cameras

       If you intend on making, keeping, and sharing photos and video clips of the games we all play together, please be nice enough to let everyone whose going to play the game know that you intend on doing this before starting the games. It's a courtesy thing and, by playing and participating in the games (to include, for those few who may choose only this, watching as a spectator), ensures that permission has been given to make photographic memories of everyone's activities during the games. And, be kind enough to ensure that everyone who has participated has a copy of whatever visual recorded memory you have created during the course of the game events. This is a must requirement, else wise refrain from this activity entirely. Again, it's a courtesy thing. But, as you can see from the demonstration photos on this page, I don't mind it!
